Find the Right Team for Your Child

At Linthwaite Football Club, we are proud to offer a wide range of teams across multiple age groups, providing opportunities for players of all abilities to enjoy and develop their football in a supportive environment.

To help you find the most suitable team, simply select the relevant age group based on your child’s date of birth. This ensures they are placed in the correct group, allowing them to train and play alongside others of a similar age and stage of development.

Each age group has its own dedicated section, where you can find detailed information about:

  • Training days and times
  • Match and league involvement
  • Coaching staff and contact details

If you would like to learn more or get your child involved, just choose the appropriate tab from the menu below to explore each team in more detail. You’ll also be able to contact the coaching team directly, who will be happy to answer any questions and guide you through the next steps.

We look forward to welcoming you to the club and helping your child start or continue their football journey with us.

Our Pan-Disability Group

We are proud to offer dedicated football sessions for players with additional needs, creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the game. These sessions are carefully designed to support participants of all abilities, ensuring they feel comfortable, valued, and able to take part at their own pace.

All sessions take place on the 4G pitch at Colne Valley, with no other activities running at the same time. This allows us to provide a calm, controlled, and distraction-free setting, helping players feel secure and fully supported throughout.

Our programme is split into two age-specific groups to ensure sessions are tailored appropriately:

‘Comets’ – for children aged 6–17

‘Just Play’ – for adults

Each session is led by experienced and understanding coaches who focus on individual development, confidence-building, and enjoyment. Activities are adapted to meet the needs of every participant, encouraging engagement, social interaction, and a sense of achievement.

Above all, our aim is to ensure that every player can experience the joy of football in a positive and supportive environment, where fun, inclusion, and personal progress are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Tots Group

Our Tots programme (ages 4–6) is designed to give young children a fun, positive introduction to football. At this stage, the focus is not on competition, but on enjoyment, confidence-building, and developing essential movement and coordination skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Through a variety of engaging games and activities, children begin to learn the basics of the sport—such as dribbling, passing, balance, and teamwork—while also developing important life skills. We place a strong emphasis on character building, helping children grow in confidence, improve their communication, and learn how to interact positively with others.

Above all, our sessions are built around one key principle: having fun. We aim to create a welcoming space where every child feels comfortable, supported, and excited to take part.

Our Girls Sections

Our Mini Soccer Teams

Our Foundation Phase (U7–U9) focuses on introducing children to structured football in a positive and supportive environment. While matches are part of an organised league programme, the emphasis at this stage is firmly placed on development and enjoyment rather than results.

All games are league fixtures, but they are designed to be non-results driven, allowing players to learn, experiment, and grow without the pressure of competition. This approach helps children build confidence, develop their skills, and gain a true love for the game.

The leagues are carefully structured to support this philosophy, with formats and expectations adapted at the younger age groups to prioritise participation, learning, and fun. Our coaches work to create an encouraging atmosphere where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to improve at their own pace.

Above all, our goal is to ensure that every player enjoys their football experience, laying strong foundations for both their future development and their continued passion for the game.

Our Junior Teams

Our Youth Development Phase (U11–U16) provides players with the opportunity to continue their football journey in a more structured and competitive environment, while still maintaining a strong focus on development, teamwork, and enjoyment.

All teams within this age group compete in organised league competitions, where fixtures are officially recorded and classified within divisions. These divisions are carefully determined based on the previous season’s results, helping to ensure a balanced and appropriate level of competition for every team.

Match results, league tables, and fixtures are published and regularly updated on the FA Full-Time website, allowing players, parents, and supporters to follow each team’s progress throughout the season.

At this stage, players are encouraged to further develop their technical ability, tactical understanding, and game awareness, while also building important qualities such as resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Our coaches provide guidance and support to help each player reach their potential in a positive and encouraging environment.

Above all, we aim to give every player a rewarding experience where they can compete, improve, and enjoy being part of a team, as they continue to grow both on and off the pitch.

Our Open Age Team

The pinnacle of our player pathway is the development of an Open Age team, designed to provide a clear and exciting progression for players once they complete their junior football journey.

This stage represents the next step for those who wish to continue playing in a structured, competitive environment beyond youth football. By establishing an Open Age side, we aim to retain and support players as they transition into adult football, ensuring they can continue to develop their skills, stay connected with the club, and enjoy the game at a higher level.

Our vision is to create a sustainable pathway that not only nurtures players throughout their early years but also offers long-term opportunities within the club. The Open Age team will embody the same principles seen across all age groups—teamwork, development, commitment, and enjoyment—while providing a platform for players to challenge themselves and continue their football journey into adulthood.

Ultimately, this completes our pathway, allowing players to progress from their first introduction to football right through to the adult game, all within a familiar and supportive club environment.
