Code of Conduct - Coaches & Officials
At Linthwaite Football Club, our coaches, team managers, and club officials play a crucial role in shaping the experience of every player. We are proud to support The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct, ensuring that football is delivered in a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all.
Those representing the club are expected to lead by example at all times, demonstrating the highest standards of behaviour both on and off the pitch.
Our Commitment
As a coach, manager, or club official, I will:
- Always show respect to everyone involved in the game, including players, officials, opponents, and spectators
- Follow the rules and promote the true spirit of football
- Encourage fair play, honesty, and high standards of behaviour
- Respect referees and match officials at all times, and actively encourage players to do the same
- Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission
- Ensure that I do not engage in, or tolerate, any form of offensive, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour
- Be mindful of the impact of language and behaviour on others
- Show grace and professionalism in both victory and defeat
- Respect all facilities and surroundings, both at home and away venues
Working with Players
When coaching and supporting players, I will:
- Place the well-being, safety, and enjoyment of every player above all else
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants
- Never tolerate or ignore any form of bullying, discrimination, or harassment
- Ensure all sessions, activities, and expectations are appropriate to the age and ability of players
- Work collaboratively with others—such as club officials, welfare officers, medical staff, and parents—to support each player’s development and best interests
- Encourage players to develop not only their football ability, but also their confidence, teamwork, and respect for others
Accountability
All coaches, team managers, and officials are expected to uphold this Code of Conduct at all times. Failure to do so may result in action being taken, including:
- Being required to meet with the Club Welfare Officer, League Officials, or County FA Safeguarding Officer
- Suspension from attending matches or training sessions
- Disciplinary action from the Club or County FA, including fines or sanctions
- Removal from position within the club and/or withdrawal of coaching or official licences
By adhering to this Code, our coaches and officials help create a
safe, respectful, and enjoyable football environment where every player can thrive. At Linthwaite Football Club, we are committed to developing not only better players, but also better people, through the positive values of the game.
