About Us
Our History
Linthwaite Junior Football Club—now proudly known as Linthwaite Football Club—was founded in 1984 with a clear purpose: to provide accessible football opportunities for children within the local community.
For over four decades, the club has remained at the heart of Linthwaite, offering young people the chance to play, develop, and enjoy the game in a supportive environment. In recent years, we have proudly brought football “back home,” establishing our base at Colne Valley High School. This move has strengthened our connection with the local area and made our sessions more accessible to children and families within the community.
Our Club Today
The club has grown significantly and continues to thrive. We now support over 20 teams, catering for a wide range of age groups and abilities—from our youngest Tots and Girls Development sessions, through to our newly formed Open Age team.
This structure provides a clear player pathway, allowing individuals to progress through the club and confidently transition into adult football while remaining part of the Linthwaite family.
In addition, we are proud to offer inclusive programmes such as:
- Pan-Disability football sessions, ensuring football is accessible to all
- FA Wildcats sessions, encouraging more girls to get involved in the game
These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to engaging and supporting the wider community.
Our Philosophy
Within our Tots and Mini Soccer sections, our focus is firmly on participation, development, and enjoyment.
We are committed to:
- Providing equal playing time for all players, regardless of ability
- Supporting each child’s individual development journey
- Helping players improve their technical skills, confidence, and understanding of the game
Our aim is to create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to improve at their own pace.
Affordability & Accessibility
We recognise that the cost of football is increasing, and we are committed to keeping the game accessible for all families.
We work hard to keep subscriptions as low as possible, ensuring they cover essential costs such as:
- Equipment and training resources
- Matchday and training kits
- Facility hire and pitch maintenance
To support this, we organise regular fundraising events throughout the year. These play a vital role in helping us maintain our standards while keeping football affordable for our members.
Our Volunteers & Committee
Our club is built on the dedication of a passionate group of volunteers who form the backbone of everything we do.
From coaches and team managers to committee members, their time, energy, and commitment ensure the club continues to grow and provide opportunities for future generations.
Quite simply, without these individuals, the club would not exist.
Looking Ahead
With strong foundations, a clear vision, and a growing community presence, the future of Linthwaite Football Club is incredibly positive.
We remain committed to:
- Expanding opportunities for players of all ages and abilities
- Strengthening our role within the local community
- Continuing to develop both players and people through football
Sponsorship Opportunities
As a community-focused club, sponsorship plays a crucial role in helping us provide the best possible experience for our players.
We welcome support in various forms, including:
- Team kit sponsorship
- Equipment funding
- Club-wide partnerships
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and supporting Linthwaite Football Club, we would love to hear from you.
Together, we continue to grow—on the pitch, and within our community.
