Mental Health
At Linthwaite Football Club, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing, development, and overall experience of everyone involved in our club. We understand that football is about much more than just what happens on the pitch, which is why we provide a range of support initiatives for players, coaches, and parents alike.
🧑🎓 Player Support
Our players are at the centre of everything we do, and we aim to create an environment where they feel supported, confident, and able to thrive.
- Communication-Focused Training
Throughout the season, we deliver dedicated sessions designed to improve communication skills both on and off the pitch. These sessions highlight the importance of teamwork, leadership, and mental wellbeing, helping players express themselves and support one another effectively. - Access to Support
Every player is provided with clear information about the club’s coaching team and key contacts, ensuring they know exactly who to speak to if they need guidance, support, or simply someone to talk to. - Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
All coaches are trained in Mental Health First Aid, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to recognise when a player may be struggling and to provide appropriate support when it is needed most.
🧑🏫 Coaches Support
We recognise that our coaches play a vital role in shaping the club environment, and we are committed to supporting them in their roles both on and off the pitch.
- Support Awareness Training
Coaches take part in sessions that increase awareness of external support services and resources, enabling them to better assist players and families during challenging times. - Seasonal Development Meetings
Key topics, including wellbeing, safeguarding, and player support, are regularly covered during full coaches’ meetings held throughout the season, ensuring consistent standards and shared understanding across the club. - Team Building & Culture
We organise activities and initiatives to strengthen relationships between coaching staff, reinforcing our “one club, one team” ethos and promoting collaboration and mutual support. - Visible Support Resources
Information about Mental Health First Aid contacts and other support services is clearly displayed in club areas, making it easy for anyone to access help when needed.
👨👩👧 Parent Support
We believe that supporting parents is just as important, as they play a key role in a child’s football journey and overall wellbeing.
- Awareness of Support Services
Informal sessions are offered to help parents understand the range of support services available for both themselves and their children, ensuring they never feel alone when facing challenges. - “Meet the Team” Evenings
At the start of each season, we host relaxed events where families can meet coaches and club representatives, helping to build strong relationships and open lines of communication from the outset. - Financial Assistance & Community Support
We work closely with local organisations, including food banks, and explore funding opportunities to provide financial assistance where needed, helping to ensure that no child misses out due to cost. - Boot Box Initiative
Our boot and kit exchange offers pre-loved football equipment to families, providing a sustainable and affordable option as children grow and their needs change. - Support for Parents Themselves
We also signpost services that can support parents personally, recognising that their wellbeing is equally important in creating a positive environment for their children.
By providing comprehensive support across all areas of the club, we aim to create a safe, inclusive, and caring environment where everyone can feel valued, supported, and part of the Linthwaite FC community.
Regular catch ups via newsletter email to share wins and target achievements. Each teams letter can also be published on social media.
We also hope that we can liaise with Andys Man Club to look at establishing a group in Colne Valley somewhere and be proactive around promoting this to our parents, carers and coaches.
