This evening sees the return of our Winter Training Sessions.

Our teams will now be training indoors or outdoors under floodlights.

You may also notice some new equipment being used in training from this evening. Thanks to a grant from Persimmon Homes, we have invested £1,000 in some new training goals for all our teams to use.

Since returning back to Linthwaite our focus as a club is to ensure our players and coaches enjoy their time at the club within a safe environment and are given the best opportunities to play and enjoy football. These may only look like football goals, but this is another small step closer to our overall target. We hope our players enjoy using them and we cannot Thank Persimmon Homes enough, as if it wasn’t for their funding, this wouldn’t be possible.

From everyone at Linthwaite Football Club, THANK YOU

We’d planned to do a positive post today with lots of picture of our players enjoying training with a smile on their faces. However, we are feeling deeply saddened. (Yet again)

This evening we arrived at training to this…..

SMASHED SPIRIT BOTTLES & GLASS all over the 3G pitch where players from as young as 3 years old train & play football!

Children are not allowed within the school grounds or on any of the pitches within the secure fencing of the school. However, they break the fencing around the school grounds to gain entry, then they break more fencing to gain access to the 3G pitches. This has caused thousands of pounds of damage, as you can see that in the pictures.

We have seen parents drop their children to go and play on the 3G pitch. We are now working with the police and with the new CCTV installed at the school, registration will be taken and action will be taken as they are trespassing on school grounds and causing criminal damage.

PLEASE, if you know your children are playing up there, please speak to them as the next time you may have the police knocking on your door.

In April our Club Secretary & Chairman will be pushing themselves to raise funds for ‘EDENS ARMY’

On Saturday 9th April, James & Simon will be climbing the Yorkshire 3 peaks with a bus load of other people.

Then on Thursday 14th April, James will be joining others jumping out of a plane at 15000ft in a tandem skydive.

Both of these fundraisers are two of many, that our Club Sponsor Northern Fitness Gym has arranged to help them reach their target of £50,000 for Edens Army!

Edens Army'... Eden was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last year, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer with a 40-50% chance of survival at diagnosis. Our fundraising is only a small part of this bigger picture but anything we can raise will go towards getting the treatment she so desperately needs.

Incidentally, it was Eden’s 7th birthday on the 10th March and most of Huddersfield turned pink for this special little girl. With this in mind, we will be completing our fundraiser in a limited edition 'Pink Eden Linthwaite Football Club' kit, kindly provided by Macron Store Wakefield.

If you feel you could please help with a donation, it would mean the world to us and only takes a minute via the link below:

On Christmas Eve, this will be Running Santa’s final dash and we would you like to join him on his final festive dash. Running Santa will start his final dash, leaving Bowling Street in Cowlersley at 10am pushing a shopping trolley. He will be collecting food donations along the whole 10km route.

A Night With SEAN JARVIS!

For the first time since leaving Huddersfield Town Football Club in June 2020, Sean will be speaking about his 14 years spent as Commercial Director at the club, including a Questions & Answers session with the audience.

Sean will be joined by Huddersfield Town Matchday Announcer Paul Ramsden. He will be 'Our Man With The Mic' for the evening, asking all the questions.

Sean moved to Huddersfield from Oldham Athletic in August 20016, taking a dual role as Director of Business Development with both Huddersfield Town and the Huddersfield Giants. Upon Dean Hoyle's arrival at the club in the 2008/09 season, Sean's sole focus became the Football Club and he soon joined the Board of Directors in June 2009.

Since his time at the club, he has worked with 9 different Managers: Lee Clark, Simon Grayson, Mark Lillis, Mark Robins, Chris Powell, David Wagner, Mark Hudson, Jan Siewert & Danny Cowley. Whilst seeing the club play in League One, The Championship & eventually, The Premier League.

We are sure he will have some fantastic stories to tell!

Ruddis Retreat will benefit from the 6 Club Walking Challenge

Donate Here

With only 12 days to go until the challenge, we would like to share with you with some amazing information with regards to this.

We are making Ruddi's Retreat a beneficiary of the walk as we feel that this pandemic has really hit them hard too and why not, communities stick together and they’ve certainly supported us. They go above and beyond for people and have really been through a tough time and anything we could do to help them was always on our radar.

Once all the donations are in, we will head down to Ruddis HQ in Slaithwaite to hand over a cheque.

A little info if you weren’t aware of who Ruddis Retreat are…

Ruddi’s Retreat is a children’s charity that provides free respite breaks for children and their families living with cancer/life limiting illnesses or coping with bereavement.

If you feel you could donate any amount, it would be really appreciated. The link for the challenge is below:

Easy Fireplaces Sponsor the Under 14's

Linthwaite Football Club would like to say a Huge Thank You to Chris Worsley, owner of Easy Fireplace for sponsoring next seasons’ U14’s Team kit.

This will be the club’s first ever Eco Friendly Shirt made with 100% certified recycled plastic for polybags.

You may also notice the hashtag on the back of these shirts:

#TogetherStronger

What does this mean, why is it important? Let’s hear from Chris himself:

“We are a community focused business working within our community. We are also a big believer in good mental health and supporting each other through all walks of life.  Getting kids to talk and ask for advice and support is key to breaking the stigma of talking about issues - let’s get kids talking”

Thank you to Chris and the team at Easy Fireplaces for sponsoring the team.

Social Media Falls Silent...

We at Linthwaite Football Club can confirm that we'll be joining the footballing world and the wider sporting community with a social media boycott from Friday April 30th at 3pm until Monday May 3rd to highlight the issues surrounding online abuse and discrimination.

23 March 2021

Our Under 11's are fundraising

Hopefully we have some light at the end of the long COVID tunnel, the last 12 months have been unbelievably hard and affected everyone and for our kids it’s been really tough. Away from school, unable to see and meet family and friends, all clubs and sporting activities suspended, then back on then suspended again, they really have had it tough.

We’ve been lucky enough to get new strips for this season with the kind support of our sponsors HD7 Phone Repairs and #FORRONAN but even with that I still planned to do some fundraising to cover the shortfall in cost.

Every year we sell teas and coffees to raise funds for the team and buy training kit, tracksuit tops and have an end of season party, obviously that has all stopped.

As we hopefully come to the end of restrictions and some normality I really want to treat the boys, showing them that good things do still happen and show them that doing things for others is what we should all strive to do, especially in times like this. So my aim is to get them something for the season ahead. My initial thoughts are for winter bench coats to stop them freezing on the side-lines but we’ll decide as a group after the event how to best spend the money and what that is depends entirely on how much we can raise as a group.

So to that end we’ve decided to run a half marathon around the local area to raise funds:

The Event:

Saturday 5th June: 9.30am

Start: Top of Causeway Side, Linthwaite

Finish: The Leadboilers field, Linthwaite

Distance covered: Approx. 13.4 miles (slightly more than the 13.1 miles of a half marathon)

Route: Can be seen on the pictures (miles 10-12 are particularly horrendous)

I as coach will be running the full distance and will be joined for parts of it by players and parents. It’s really going to be a team event and challenge everyone. It’s not about a time (in my case more survival), it’s about the challenge, bringing the team together, and getting our whole group of players and parents involved and looking forward to the future. If you would like to donate just click on the link: https://paypal.me/pools/campaign/115591721856594062

I’ve set up a money pool on PayPal to collect the sponsorship (you don’t need a PayPal account to donate)

The reason for this is that having looked at your traditional fundraising sites (Just giving, go fund me etc…) all appear to take a cut of 25p per donation and then between 1.9% and 2.9% on top, so off a £1 sponsorship we might have only received 72p!! By doing it via a money pool it ensures every penny generously sponsored goes straight to the team. Any sponsorship would be gratefully appreciated or if you can’t a share of the post would be great.

Thank you for reading this and thanks for your support.

Dave Ramsey

Linthwaite Football Club U11s coach
